What Is Cement Precipitation?

Cement precipitation occurs when a properly mixed batch of concrete is left without stirring for an extended period. During this time, the heavier components—such as cement particles, sand, and gravel—begin to settle and separate from the water in the mix. This process is also known as segregation or stratification. As a result, the concrete loses its fluidity, becomes uneven in composition, and is no longer workable. This can significantly reduce the concrete’s strength, durability, and overall performance, making it unsuitable for use in construction.
